Getting started

What is ecareer.ai?

ecareer.ai is an AI career platform for STEM talent — from bachelor's graduates to PhDs, postdocs, and experienced professionals. It builds on one-on-one STEM career consulting practiced since 2010 (10,000+ consultations) and combines that expertise with AI: we analyze your CV, papers, and projects, match you to live job postings across six job markets, and help you build a fact-based CV targeted at each posting.

Which countries do you cover? Can I sign up from anywhere?

You can sign up from anywhere in the world — there is no nationality or residence restriction. Job matching covers postings in six job markets: the United States, Canada, Australia, South Korea, India, and Vietnam. Detailed visa analysis is a separate, narrower scope — see the visa question below.

Which languages does the interface support?

The interface is available in English and Korean. Document upload is not limited by language — you can upload materials in any language, and generated CVs are in English.

Job matches & Match Score

How does job matching work?

Your profile and uploaded documents are analyzed into a competency profile, then compared against live postings. Scores are computed deterministically — the same inputs always produce the same score, and Free and Pro users see the same numbers. Every score comes with an explanation across core fit dimensions (such as experience, skills, and domain), and every claim in that explanation traces back to the actual posting text and your own documents. We only match postings with a real, readable job description; a posting we cannot read is never scored or "analyzed" — we tell you honestly instead.

Is the visa information legal advice? Whose nationality is covered?

Visa and work-authorization information on ecareer.ai is general guidance, not legal advice — always verify with an immigration professional before acting on it. Detailed visa analysis currently covers nationals of six countries: the US, South Korea, India, Canada, Australia, and Vietnam. If your nationality is outside this coverage, job matching and all other analyses remain fully available; we simply ask you to verify the visa and work-permit requirements of your target market yourself. For US postings, we also show each employer's recent H-1B sponsorship history drawn from official USCIS records.

Does a high match score mean I'll get hired?

No — and we won't pretend otherwise. Your match score and ranking are a fit estimate computed from your submitted profile and documents against the posting. They are not a probability of being hired: hiring decisions involve factors we cannot see, such as the applicant pool and the employer's internal priorities. Use the score and its explanation to decide where your effort is best spent; the decision to apply, and the outcome, remain yours.

CV Builder

What makes the CV Builder different?

The CV Builder writes only from the documents you provide. It does not invent experience, inflate claims, or add skills you never mentioned — every statement is source-tracked to your own materials. It tailors the draft to the specific posting you're targeting, and you review, edit, and finalize everything before export (DOCX or PDF). AI drafts are clearly marked as drafts: verifying the facts and submitting the final document is always in your hands.

What documents can I upload, and in which languages?

You can upload research-related documents — theses, CVs, project decks, PDFs, Word documents, and PowerPoint files — in any language. We analyze your background from them and draft English CV experience bullets and posting-tailored lines for your target posting — we don't write a whole new CV for you; you decide where each suggestion goes and review the result. One honest note: output quality can vary with the input language and AI translation/processing performance.

Plans & billing

How much does it cost?

Three plans: Free ($0), Pro ($39.99/month), and Premium ($69.99/month — the same features as Pro with 3× the usage limits, for heavy users). Prices are in USD and identical worldwide; billing is monthly only. AI usage counts only new generations; Free resets on the 1st of each month (UTC) and paid plans reset each billing cycle. Paid checkout is not open yet — you can currently register for a launch notification on the pricing page, and nothing is charged today.

What stays free? What does Pro add?

Free includes the non-AI core: browsing and matching in your main market, match scores with their breakdown numbers, full posting and company information, job search, visa filters, hide rules, the application tracker, and CV editing/export. Free also auto-organizes and briefly analyzes your one uploaded CV, for up to 5 new versions a month. Pro is about AI depth: matching across all six markets, deep analysis of your papers and projects (10 a month), the written reasoning behind what matches and what's missing on each posting (300 new explanations a month), AI CV drafts and posting-tailored lines from your own documents (20 a month), and CV translation between English and Korean (20 a month). Limits count only new generations, and reaching one never removes what you already have. Premium has the same features as Pro with 3× the usage (30/900/60/60 a month).

Account & privacy

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. We do not use the content of your uploaded documents to train our own or third-party AI models. Text excerpts from your documents are sent to AI providers (such as OpenAI's API) only to run your analysis; under those providers' API terms, that data is not used to train their models and is retained only for a limited abuse-monitoring period. Full details, including every processor we use, are in our Privacy Policy.

How is my data protected?

Your CV, research, and visa details are sensitive, and we treat them that way. All connections are encrypted in transit (TLS) and data is encrypted at rest. Database records are isolated per user with row-level security, uploaded documents live in private storage accessible only through your authenticated session, and administrative credentials are separated from the application. The full list of measures — including what we do not claim — is on our Security page and in the Privacy Policy.

How do I spot and avoid recruitment scams?

Watch out for fake recruiters impersonating employers or job platforms. Typical warning signs are demands for advance payments (for example for visa processing, training, or equipment) and requests for excessive personal information such as bank credentials or government-ID numbers. Neither ecareer.ai nor any legitimate employer will ask you for money at any point in the application process. If a contact seems suspicious, stop and verify it directly through the employer's official channels, such as its official careers page.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account yourself at any time: Profile → Delete account. Deletion is not reversible. It removes your account, profile, analysis results, and your uploaded files in storage. Consent records are retained after deletion only for as long as applicable law requires us to be able to prove consent was given.
